Health and Safety Coordinator

We are actively seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team as a Health & Safety Coordinator at our mining operation. This position is based in a prime location, offering convenient access to a variety of exceptional destinations. Within just a two-hour drive, you can enjoy the scenic beauty of the Thousand Islands, relax along the Lake Ontario shoreline, or explore the majestic Adirondack Mountains. For winter sports enthusiasts, world-class skiing at Lake Placid is also within easy reach. Additionally, the cultural and urban attractions of Montreal and Ottawa in Canada are just a short 2–3 hour drive away, making this role not only professionally rewarding but also personally enriching through its proximity to top-tier recreational and travel opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on workplace safety and compliance of procedures and MSHA regulations
  • Develop, implement, and improve safety policies, procedures, and programs as needed
  • Provide safety training & education
  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Inspect work environments underground and on the surface
  • Investigate accidents
  • Accompany MSHA on quarterly inspections or other site visits
  • Evaluate and recommend control measures to minimize risk
  • Stay informed of MSHA regulations along with other federal, state, and local H&S regulations
  • Schedule annual required physicals and hearing tests
  • Assist with weekly and monthly H&S reporting
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of training, inspections, investigations, and other required records
  • Work with all departments of the business to promote a positive safety culture
  • Other reasonable duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and stay organized
  • Ability to use a computer for written communication, tracking, and submitting reports
  • Industry experience preferred
  • MSHA Trainer Certification preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Skill in written and verbal communication (in English)
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.
