NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service.
The Sheriff’s Office serves and enforces court mandates, orders of protection, warrants, decrees, and property seizures. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office conducts criminal investigations of real property fraud, tax crimes, and the trafficking of illegal and untaxed tobacco products and synthetic narcotics, and monitors defendants referred by the courts for electronic monitoring.
The Office of the Sheriff, Marshal Enforcement Unit, conducts operations such as booting, towing and auctioning of vehicles that have outstanding parking violations judgment debt. Marshals and Deputies also receive executions and patrol the streets in all five boroughs using the License Plate Reader (LPR) that are mounted on vehicles which scan license plates checking for scofflaws.
Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
-Respond to inquiries from the Sheriff's office, city marshals, the DOF, and the public
-Supervises a small unit or groups engaged in clerical activities.
-Assign and review the work of subordinates, generally responsible for the satisfactory completion of the work performed in the unit or group.
-Serve as principal assistant to a supervisor of a large section.
-Performs moderately difficult and responsible clerical work in maintaining and checking various kinds of records.
-Assists in arranging of services and activities in connection with receptions and other public functions, for the New York City Sheriff's office.
-Performs responsible clerical work in areas such as personnel administration, account and budgeting, by processing, recording and maintaining records.
-Process payments from the public in the form of cash and non-cash remittances.
-Answer telephone calls and maintain personnel records for field locations.
-Replenish supplies and maintain shop inventory.
-Utilize typing, word processing or other automated office systems.
-Compile and maintain central file data for reports.

Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
