Major Responsibilities
- Under general direction of the Director of Tree Planting and the Deputy Director of In-house Tree Planting, assist program managers in developing, coordinating and organizing daily work assignments for in-house tree planting program.
- Supervise, instruct, train, and dispatch a full-time Park Supervisor Level 1 (PS1) and employees assigned to the planting, maintenance, and operation of the In-House Tree Planting program.
- Carry out various administrative tasks including scheduling, dispatching daily activities; securing equipment and supplies; coordinating with the Community Coordinator and other Parks divisions and outside vendors; timekeeping and managing transportation and vehicle service issues.
- Coordinate and supervise operations at the yard to include tree deliveries, material deliveries, vehicle needs, tracking and placing purchase orders. Organize trees and oversee general maintenance and upkeep of trees in conjunction with other staff for the next day’s operations.
- Assist, support, and provide backup for crew and PS 1 in the delivery of materials and work assignments.
- Assist in documenting program progress, attendance, compliance and evaluations and provide periodic updates to forestry management.
- Organize and create tracking sheets and reports on program activities as needed.
- Attend and participate in periodic planning meetings with forestry management.

PARK SUPERVISOR - 81111
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, plus two years of full-time satisfactory experience in gardening, grounds maintenance, in the automotive trades, in the building construction or maintenance trades, or as a climber and pruner or tree worker performing climbing and pruning duties. One year of this experience must have been in a supervisory capacity; or
2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus four years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above; including one year in a supervisory capacity; or
3. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience that is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. Two years of college education may be substituted for one year of the required experience. However, all candidates must possess a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and a minimum of one year of supervisory experience as described in "1" above.
License Requirement
Within one year of the date of appointment, all candidates must possess a Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class B valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
