Certified Hospital Coding Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Hospital Coding Specialist III (Remote).

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately code inpatient conditions and procedures using ICD guidelines and assign appropriate MS-DRG or APR-DRG
  • Review medical record documentation to identify and assign relevant codes for diagnoses, procedures, and conditions
  • Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists to address documentation concerns and assist with DRG validation requests
Required Qualifications
  • AHIMA or AAPC approved Medical Coding Diploma or Health Information Management Degree
  • Three years of progressive inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility
  • Active credential of Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
  • Experience with electronic health record systems is preferred
  • If AAPC credential, CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder) is preferred
