The Grocery Store and Country Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the grocery store and country store at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. This position includes inventory management, staff supervision, customer service, and ensuring that the stores maintain a welcoming and organized environment. The manager will work closely with suppliers, manage ordering and receiving of products, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership skills and a commitment to providing quality service to the community.
Provides oversight to all activities related to the operation of the Boys Ranch Country Store and Grocery Store, to include retail sales, purchasing, inventory control and related activities.
Assists customers with purchases in a timely and courteous manner.
Coordinates the ordering and maintenance of inventory for country store and grocery store that meets the needs of a multicultural population, to include personal hygiene products, school supplies, sundries, gift items, cleaning products, food and cooking related items.
Regularly checks in and unloads freight deliveries.
Checks and maintains inventory counts.
Creates purchase orders for country store/warehouse items.
Receives vendor orders and verifies Invoice/Purchase Order correlation.
Delivers products to customers on the Boys Ranch campus.
Recognize and acquire new items to meet the needs of the campus.
Performs weekly inspections of Country Store and Grocery Store to assure proper stock levels and proper cleanliness compliance.
Oversees budget activities to include oversight of departmental budget.
Displays and stocks items with the customer perspective in mind.
Provides training and direction for residents who participate in Experiential Learning Program activities.
Maintains files, records and documents related to retail areas.
Provides janitorial duties within the Country Store and Grocery Store, i.e., floors, shelving, outside perimeter, toilets, coffee area, and showroom
Exhibits appropriate interaction with residents, staff and vendors.
1. Associate Degree in a business-related field or completion of college courses in a business-related field is preferred. 3 years of business or retail operations experience can be substituted for a degree.
2. A knowledge of inventory control systems and procedures is required.
3. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Power Point and related software is required.
4. Proficiency in general office equipment operation is required.
5. Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
6. Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, prolonged sitting/standing. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
7. Must be at least 21 years of age.
8. Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license.
9. Must be available for travel as needed.
