Job Description

Brightspeed has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager of Operational Support to join our rapidly growing team! As the Senior Manager, you will oversee the team responsible for solutioning, developing, and maintaining systems that support the Planning, Engineering and Construction team. Your team will drive the evaluation, design, documentation, implementation, testing, and performance for various systems. You will work closely with internal IT business partners as well as 3rd Party Development teams to support the Business Operations team, ensuring alignment of application/process long-term goals and visions. The principal purpose of this role is to drive automation, process efficiency and support of Operations and Engineering teams.

As a Senior Manager Engineering & Construction your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the technical support team for the Planning, Engineering, and Construction department with a suite of advanced applications at Brightspeed.
  • Drive advanced technical direction and support for multiple applications within the Planning, Engineering and Construction system stack.
  • Balance priorities from complex cross-functional teams while developing innovative system solutions to business challenges.
  • Define, document, design, test, and implement strategies to enhance and support Network Systems including Engineering, Service Delivery & Assurance, NOC, and Field Operations.
  • Support the IT Agile process with strong knowledge of JIRA, SQL, Dashboards, Kanban, queries, etc., by clearly documenting technical requirements and use cases.
  • Lead transformational change within Engineering and Construction leveraging GIS and AI to improve build tools and efficiency.
  • Understand, troubleshoot and deliver technical bug resolution requirements to IT and 3rd Party Developers.
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) post system outage.
  • Maintain SOX Compliance through tracking and audits.
  • Build technical guidelines for Learning & Development for curriculum creation and training, as well as end-user self-serve consumption.
  • Present program updates/status to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate between the application end-user community, IT partners, and peers to ensure a high-performing system stack that meets customer commitments with minimal downtime.
  • Lead by example in creating an environment that encourages open communication, sharing ideas and best practices, and building strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Implement and oversee change management strategies to ensure smooth transitions and adoption of systems and new processes.

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in network technology/engineering or relevant professional experience.
  • 7+ years’ experience in the Telecom industry, Network systems, driving software development lifecycle, and technical project management.
  • Experience managing a technical support team.
  • Experience with IT systems requirements & development, agile processes, end-to-end & UAT testing.
  • Familiarity with Geospatial databases and software as a means of analyzing large amounts of data.
  • Application-specific experience: IQGeo, JIRS, AMS, BOSS.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and PPT.
  • Experience with data visualization tools: Power Platform, Big Query or Data Lake.
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis management.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical information.
  • Program/Project Management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include preparing presentations for executives and senior leadership team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Decision-making skills coupled with the ability to lead change while considering lift versus gain.
  • Ability to motivate others and work under pressure.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to articulate via written and oral communication.

Bonus Points For:

  • Master’s degree in engineering or telecommunications.
  • Telecom/Cable/Internet Service Provider industry experience.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification.
