This position consists of 3 components, the details of which are below: 

  • AI Coordinator:  35%: This position will be a shared services role with Empowerment Academy. 
  • PD Support:  30%: With the increase in PDs, this person will work closely with Academic Dean and Department Chairs to support the coordination and implementation of academic PDs. 
  • Teaching:  35%: This person will teach a certain number of classes in BelovED's High School.

AI Integration: BelovED/Empowerment

The AI Integration Coordinator plays a strategic and operational role in developing, implementing, and continuously refining our comprehensive AI framework to support school-wide goals and strategic initiatives. This position requires technical expertise in AI alongside the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, accessible language for non-technical stakeholders. The ideal candidate will lead the research, policy development, and training initiatives necessary to integrate AI responsibly and effectively across all programs, ensuring ethical practices and measurable improvements in teaching and learning outcomes. 

Key Responsibilities 

1. AI Strategy & Policy Development 

● Framework Creation: Develop and maintain a comprehensive AI framework and implementation roadmap aligned with school-wide goals, including clear, measurable objectives and key results (OKRs). 

● Policy Development: Craft student-facing AI policies that articulate ethical considerations, responsible use, and security best practices in age-appropriate language. Simultaneously, develop internal policies for staff that define guidelines, security protocols, and best practices. 

● Continuous Improvement: Regularly assess and refine the AI strategy to ensure alignment with emerging educational trends and technological advancements. 

2. AI Technology Research & Implementation 

● Technology Evaluation: Research, evaluate, and pilot AI-powered platforms and tools across various content areas to identify the best-fit solutions. 

● Solution Deployment: Experiment with AI applications and establish selection criteria based on educational effectiveness, usability, and data security. Collaborate with IT, data privacy colleagues, and external vendors to support procurement and deployment. 

● Measurable Impact: Define and monitor evaluation metrics to ensure that AI solutions are effectively enhancing teaching and learning outcomes. 

3. Professional Development & Staff Training 

● Training Design: Develop, design, and lead comprehensive professional learning sessions and workshops focused on AI integration. 

● Material Development: Create clear, accessible training materials and instructional guides to help educators understand and adopt AI tools. 

● Ongoing Support: Provide one-on-one coaching and group training sessions, and implement follow-up support plans to ensure sustained competency and engagement. 

4. Project Management & Cross-Departmental Collaboration 

● Implementation Planning: Develop a detailed timeline for AI initiatives, coordinate project meetings, and manage calendars to ensure on-time delivery of all project milestones.

● Collaboration: Work closely with educators, IT staff, data teams, and external partners to ensure seamless integration of AI tools. Facilitate meetings and workgroups that promote mutual trust and effective teamwork. 

● Reporting: Prepare and present progress reports, research findings, and project proposals to management and key stakeholders. 

5. Data Tracking & Impact Analysis 

● Analytics Development: Design and implement data tracking systems (e.g., dashboards) to monitor AI’s impact on student growth, teacher effectiveness, and overall instructional quality. 

● Data-Driven Decisions: Develop metrics to assess performance, regularly analyze data, and generate reports to guide continuous improvement in AI strategies. 

6. Ethical and Responsible AI Leadership 

● Ethics & Privacy: Advocate for and ensure the ethical implementation of AI by identifying and addressing potential risks, while collaborating with the student data privacy team to enforce compliance with regulations. 

● Stakeholder Engagement: Engage diverse stakeholders—including staff, parents, and community partners—to maintain transparency, build trust, and gather input on AI initiatives. 

PD Implementation

This position will support the coordination and implementation of PDs in the High School.  

  • Coordination: Working closely with the Academy Dean and Department Chairs, this person will support the creation of a calendar for the Summer Institute and yearlong PDs and update, as necessary.  
  • Support:  This person will support the implementation of PDs (finding additional resources if necessary, working with outside consultants if necessary, codifying and sharing best practices across departments, etc.)
  • Lead PDs:  This person may, at times, lead certain PDs/practice clinics during the year.  


Teaching

This position includes teaching a certain number of classes in BelovED’s High School.  The classes will be determined by content expertise of the candidate.

Teacher Responsibilities

Values, Expectations, and Commitment Teachers must commit themselves to the School’s values and mission. Moreover, appreciating the example of excellent schools which succeed at helping all students achieve at a high level, teachers must hold high expectations for each student and commit themselves to helping every student achieve their full potential.

Student Learning Every teacher must accept ultimate responsibility for his or her students achieving learning progress that meets or exceeds the School's high standards and must actively develop solutions to problems, reaching out for peer and leader support, and taking advantage of other school resources, as necessary.

Teaching and Assessment Teachers may make use of school-provided curricular materials, or they may design their own, but they must plan and deliver vibrant and engaging lessons – each with a measurable goal – within the framework of the School’s carefully sequenced, standards-aligned education program and they must administer school-provided formative assessments on a regular basis so instruction can be targeted to their students' needs.

Culture and Classroom Management Teachers must communicate, and also model for their students, behaviors which befit the high expectations culture and the caring school climate to which we are committed. They must apply School and classroom rules consistently and effectively; make use of preventive discipline; and effectively supervise students both in their classroom and elsewhere on School grounds.

Teamwork, Professional Relations, and Professional Development Teachers should see themselves as members of a team and should commit themselves to their own and to their peers’ on-going professional development. Teachers will be required to attend professional development sessions, to participate actively in planning meetings, and to become part of a professional learning community where they can lend assistance to, and gain assistance from, their grade-level peers.

Special Needs Students and English Language Learners Teachers must work collaboratively with the school’s special education and ELL staff to implement the school’s special education and ELL programs and to comply with all state and federal regulations.

Teacher Supports

Sample teacher supports include:

  • A teacher coach, career-long professional development assistance and grade-level professional learning community support;
  • A research-based curriculum and supporting curricular materials (you will have the freedom to develop your own, but after a full day in the classroom, you may appreciate not always having to develop learning objectives and curricular resources from scratch);
  • High-quality formative assessments, aligned with our curriculum, that will help you immediately identify when students in your class have not achieved mastery of a skill, concept, or knowledge item;
  • Full-time reading and math specialists who will be available to tutor students who are struggling to master an essential skill, and social workers who will be available to help students struggling with outside problems;
  • The staffing of our afterschool program by Academic Tutors, so we can limit the length of our teachers’ work-days;
  • Abundant planning periods that provide teachers an opportunity to prepare up-coming lessons during the school day.
