Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to join our accounting and finance team. The Assistant Controller will support the CFO in overseeing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial data and maintaining efficient accounting processes


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure financial statements are in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Review financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness before final reporting.
  • Oversee daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions and month-end close.
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor actual financial performance versus budgeted targets and provide variance analysis.
  • Support business unit leaders with financial insights to aid in decision-making.
  • Ensure the organization’s financial practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure compliance with accounting policies.
  • Assist in audits and coordinate with external auditors as needed.
  • Monitor daily cash flow and assist in the management of working capital.
  • Fund Payroll and AP processing.
  • Help prepare cash flow forecasts and liquidity reports.
  • Supervise junior accounting staff and provide training and guidance as necessary.
  • Review work to ensure accuracy and efficiency in completing accounting tasks.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Implement new accounting systems or upgrades in collaboration with IT and other departments.

Must Have & Nice to Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 4+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant controller role.
  • Experience in Venture backed or early stage small to mid-size business a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting for SaaS Software (ASC606).
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, Bill.com, Deel, HubSpot).
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.

  • Experience with budget development and financial analysis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions.
