Job Description

The Associate Project Manager will be crucial in managing and coordinating projects related to developing new products, working closely with cross-functional teams, collaborating with product management, and overseeing smaller projects as needed.

The ideal candidate for an Associate Project Manager would be able to do the following:

  1. Project Planning and Coordination:
    1. Develop and maintain detailed project plans outlining key milestones, timelines, and resource requirements. 
    2. Coordinate cross-functional teams, including collaboration with product management and engineers, to ensure effective communication and seamless project execution.
  2. Risk Management:
    1. Identify potential risks, including those related to product management and engineering, and develop mitigation strategies. 
    2. Proactively address challenges that may impact project timelines or deliverables.
  3. Product Development Support:
    1. Collaborate closely with product management teams to understand market requirements, customer needs, and technical specifications. 
    2. Ensure that project deliverables align with product specifications and quality standards.
  4. Engineering Collaboration:
    1. Work closely with engineering teams to understand technical requirements and constraints.
    2. Facilitate effective communication between project teams and engineers to ensure successful project outcomes.
  5. Communication:

    2. Serve as a primary point of contact for project-related inquiries.
    3. Regularly communicate project status, updates, and issues to stakeholders, including product management, engineers, and senior management.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:
    1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation. 
    2. Prepare regular progress reports and post-project evaluations, incorporating product management and engineering team feedback.
  7. Quality Assurance:
    1. Implement and oversee quality assurance processes in collaboration with product management and engineering to ensure the final product meets or exceeds customer expectations.

Qualifications

For a candidate to be successful as an Associate Project Manager they must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, project management, engineering, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience in project management, preferably in a new product development context.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, committed to a positive and empowering team culture.
  • Proficient in project management tools and software.
  • Knowledge of product development processes and methodologies. 
  • Familiarity with the regulatory requirements associated with new product development.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams, particularly with product management and engineering.
