Job Title: Software Asset Manager

Location: Redstone Arsenal Huntsville, Alabama 35898 (Hybrid)

Clearance Level: Active DoD - Secret

SUMMARY

A full range of information technology (IT) support services is necessary to satisfy enterprise missions, goals, and objectives in the areas of IT Services, Enterprise Design/Integration/Consolidation, IT Education/Training, IT Program/Project Management, Systems Operations and Maintenance, Network Support, and embedded Information Systems Security, Cyber Security, and Information Assurance to the Program Executive Office Aviation (PEO AVN) Information Technology Support Services.


We are currently seeking a Software Asset Manager to support the PEO AVN Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) in Huntsville, AL. The Software Asset Manager position is responsible for managing the inventory, acquisition, compliance, and agreement for the IT portfolio of commercial and custom-developed software.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Develop new documentation where necessary to support SAM processes.

Contribute to effective service delivery of software services in ServiceNow.

Mature and revise the Software Asset Management strategy to reflect business priorities and technology changes.

Proactively identify process improvements to ensure effective license management and usage ensuring optimal use of technologies and resources.

Monitor effective license positions and ensure adherence to vendor terms and conditions of use.

Maintain license entitlement data.

Identify and action opportunities for license reclamation and optimization.

Leverage existing / new tools to automate the collection of software information (install & usage) to simplify current processes and provide more focused, exception reporting.

Review software license requests prior to implementation to determine if reuse or the procurement of new licensing is required.

Ensure overall license compliance across all software titles in the environment.

Review software license reporting with business representatives and assist in the overall understanding of the licensing model and allowed usage (as required).

Gather, organize, and analyze software usage trend data to determine maintenance/support requirements and coordinate with business lines to effectively determine strategy for acquisition/renewal of maintenance support program enrollments.

Lead external software audit activities including readiness assessment, vendor coordination, data analysis, remediation, and communication.

Extract usage reports from ServiceNow.

Validate users for renewals.

 


QUALIFICATIONS


Required Certifications ITIL v4 Foundations Certification

Education, Background, and Years of Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of relevant experience

Active Secret Clearance

Awareness of DoD cyber security policies and practices

General technical experience preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environmental Conditions

The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Hybrid, PEO AVN personnel are required to be onsite a minimum of 20%, or 2 days per pay period (2 weeks). Telework schedules are subject to manager approval.

Strength Demands Sedentary 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles. Some occasional walking or standing may be required. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
