Access Learning Academy - Counseling Internship (Fall 2025 - Spring 2026)

Access Services is seeking to have two Masters Level interns for Access Learning Academy, located in Pottstown, PA. We are looking for 1 Masters level students to start Fall 2025 (August/September) and complete by Spring 2026 (April/May/June) to intern a minimum of 16 hours per week.

Acces Learning Academy has been providing quality educational services and support for over 19 years. We are a Licensed Private Academic School offering Special Education for Elementary/Secondary and Learning Disabled Socially/Emotionally. We are known for providing A.C.C.E.S.S. an Affective, Caring, Community Educating and Serving Students. We offer a robust academic curriculum built around the needs of the individual students with a small class size and low teacher-student ratio. We emphasize a positive behavior, strength based, and student-centered goals. This helps to support students’ success in their school, home and community. We seek to utilize the student’s natural strengths and the family’s available resources. We view our school as part of the support team which will help our students unlock their full potential. We will be the first to tell you that true growth takes time. We are committed to work collaboratively with the student, parent or caregivers, schools and agencies to best help the student achieve. Each week, our students receive a minimum of one hour of individual counseling that focuses on a psycho-educational topic or social-skill development. We treat students with various mood, thought, and behavior challenges such as ADHS, anxiety, grief, depression, phobias, stress and trauma.

• Interns will be exposed to working with a well-developed team of teachers and therapists with 16 years of experience working with students that are struggling with their mental health. The therapists are Licensed Social Workers and Licensed Professional Counselors.
• Interns will receive a unique approach to therapy as we work with students therapeutically the moment they walk into the school. Each student receives at least one hour of counseling per week and each student is assigned to one of four groups for group therapy.
• Interns' scheduled hours are 8:00a-4:00p with students in the building from 8:30am-2:30pm.

• Student must be working on Masters degree that requires an internship.
• Willingness to interact with teens that are struggling with their emotions and academics.
• Willingness to learn from counselors and staff.

Essential Working Conditions/Physical Demands:  

• Work in program sites and the community routinely providing direct care and/or support with clients and use knowledge of mental health systems in the county to connect people with proper support. 

• Stand, sit, or run by self, or provide proper care and supervision with a client.  

• Able to move and stay with a client to keep him/her safe.

• Work in a standard office environment.  

• Utilize desktop computer equipment daily.  

• Able to lift or move items associated with sedentary work and light work (exert up to 20 lbs.)
